This week we were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to review the Rydon eyewear from Rudy Project. Personally I have always been an Oakley person thou the Rudy Project eyewear drew my attention as more and more cyclists convert to the range. The one thing that impressed me more than anything was just how flexible the Rydon are.
Unifying seamlessly advanced design technology and materials science, the Rydon blends cutting-edge ergonomic features with advanced materials (Carbon, Aluminum, Magnesium, Silicium and Titanium) to create a super-lightweight, versatile, high performance sunglass. Rydon has been uniquely engineered with a carbonium frame and revolutionary aerospatial aluminum alloy temples which combine Magnesium, Silicium and Titanium to create an unbelievably lightweight, durable and flexible sunglass. These material advances allowed for the design specifications to be “pushed” giving our engineers the ability to create a stunning wraparound masterpiece.
The Rydon are a great set of lenses, either for racing, training, or touring. I have a medium profile face, so they covered my eyes quite well. I noticed generally that in descents the shape of the lenses create some turbulence around the edges, which may be a problem for some. The lenses are basically unshatterable though, and protect your eyes in the event of a crash or common road debris. The Rydons are fully adjustable, with rubberised temples and nose guards so you can fit the frame perfectly to your face.
My overall impression of these frames are that they are perfectly suitable for cycling and that I strongly recommended them for consideration while looking for similar frames from other leading brands such as Oakley, Bolle and WileyX. The Rydon was comfortable to the point where I could forget I was wearing them and the varying amount of adjustment from these frames makes it easy to adjust to anyone’s face.
